About Me

Fine Dining … what a hoot

I’m here to celebrate and document my experiences of fine dining. I’m here to bust the myths about it, to promote great restaurants, chefs and staff, and to talk about great food and drink.

Here’s the thing. I LOVE fine dining and I’m not ashamed of it. I’m here to tell you that it’s better value, more fun, more healthy and more sociable than normal dining. The thing is, most people put “fine dining” in a box in their mind associated with the super-rich and/or famous, and dismiss it for providing you with nothing but tiny portions and snobby waiters. I’ve also noticed that most of the time I’m the youngest person in the restaurant by far. I want to show younger people how great fine dining is and how it can be a better use of your money than several rounds in the same pub, if you love food.

At its best, fine dining is a form of art and can provide you with amazing experiences that you never forget. Yes, it can be expensive, but certainly not always, and I plan to give you tons of examples of how it can be better value than going to chain restaurants.

It’s a very basic notion that when you go to a great restaurant, the presentation and overall atmosphere and experience are at least as important as the food. Fine dining can be theatre or it can be superlative examples of simple ingredients.

I plan to review all the Michelin-starred and “recommended” restaurants I’ve been to, along with great examples of restaurants not mentioned in the Michelin Guide which I feel are worth a mention. I hope you enjoy my blog and let me know your thoughts through a comment.
