Taverna is a chilled beachside restaurant within the Four Seasons Astir Palace hotel in Athens, with lovely sunset views in the evening.
For our first visit there for dinner, we shared a range of appetisers – the rice-stuffed vine leaves and octopus were particularly good. For mains we had the grouper and vegetables, and lamb chops with fries and sauce.
For our second visit we enjoyed the rice-stuffed vine leaves again and also tried an aubergine salad and grilled octopus. For mains we opted for the feta-stuffed beef with pitta bread, and the chicken with lemon and grilled veg and mushrooms and pitta bread. These courses were all good, but the mosaiko dessert that we shared was exceptional – like a chocolate and hazelnut tiffin with cinnamon ice cream and chocolate sauce. We also shared some Greek white wine from Santorini and a glass of Greek sparkling wine – the white wine was probably nicer.
