Baltic … pre-Vic dining

When I visited: July 2018

Location: London, near Waterloo

Rating in the Michelin Guide: Not in Guide (used to be recommended)

Dining Owl Hoot rating: 3/5

What to wear:Men – jeans or nice trousers and a shirt; women – jeans and a smart top or a smart dress

Ambience: Smart, efficient

Course of the meal: Salmon and haddock fishcake

If I could change one thing: Slightly smaller portions

Review:

I had a flying visit to Baltic en route to the Young Vic and enjoyed a glass of Soave with the two-course theatre menu. We had gravdalax and ham hock salad followed by duck confit with cabbage and currants and a delicious salmon and haddock fishcake.

The service was friendly and efficient; I’d like to go back when I have more time, and the location is great if you’re going to the Old Vic or Young Vic.
