Rumsey’s Chocolaterie … gem of Thame

When I visited: Various times from 2014-2017

Location: Thame, Oxfordshire

Rating in the Michelin Guide: Not in Guide

Dining Owl Hoot rating: 3/5

What to wear: Could go casual

Ambience: Casual, fun café

Course of the meal: Banana split

If I could change one thing: More seating

Review:

Rumsey’s is a lovely, friendly café in the heart of Thame. It is a chocolaterie and it would be foolish to visit without sampling at least some of its chocolates (in fact they make it difficult for you to avoid them as they give you some large chocolate buttons if you have a hot drink). It serves a range of good-quality savoury lunch dishes and desserts – the banana split that I witnessed there was both enormous and amazing-looking. I also once saw a group of kids having a chocolate-making birthday party there.

If you haven’t got time to sit in, the takeaway chocolate boxes make for a nice gift or a treat for yourself.
