My partner Owl and I can’t resist Italian dishes, even when in another European country famous for its food. On our trip to Vienna, we spied Procacci and made it our business to visit for dinner.
We were presented with a classic basket of Italian bread to go with olive oil, which went down a treat with our bottle of classic red Chianti. However, it was my partner Owl’s starter that made this restaurant memorable: the ‘chef’s special’ of poached eggs with black truffle pearls and black truffle shavings. I don’t often get food envy and my starter of buffalo mozzarella with tomato was delicious, but after a spoonful of the chef’s special I could only say ‘wow’ – it was seriously amazing and if the ingredients weren’t so expensive I would try to recreate it every day so that I could have it for breakfast!
Our mains were beautiful as well – veal ragout with pappardelle and agnolotti with spinach, ricotta and Parmesan shavings. My partner Owl also enjoyed a tiramisu for dessert which was very tasty and indulgent but too big for one person.
Procacci is a culinary gem in the gorgeous city of Vienna and a strong choice if you are in the mood for Italian.
