When I visited: September 2015
Location: Milan (within Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II shopping centre)
Rating in the Michelin Guide: Not rated in the Guide
What to wear: Men – jeans or nice trousers and a shirt; women – jeans and a smart top or a smart dress (could go more casual)
Ambience: Bustling, lively
Course of the meal: Black Forest gateau
If I could change one thing: Smaller portions
Biffi is in the same central shopping centre as Savini and has the same bustling atmosphere, whether you go for lunch or dinner. I went for an a la carte dinner with my partner Owl. The service was friendly throughout and the food was good if not amazing.
I had giant king prawns with lettuce and lemon, while my partner Owl went for beef slices with cheese and spinach salad and mushrooms. The prawns were tasty but pretty hard work to get into – I could have done with one of those implements that you use to eat lobster. We also shared a nicely decorated Black Forest gateau with orange slices, which was really delicious, and a plus point was that the waiters brought over a ‘cake board’, similar to the steak boards at Gaucho, to help us choose our dessert. We had a half bottle of Chianti with the meal which was rich and soft.
Biffi is a good place to go if you want a fairly quick and tasty dinner or lunch in Milan.
