Review:
Miller and Carter is a big and very central restaurant in the toon of Newcastle offering good-quality steak to a mix of diners (families, friends, children with parents, dates) in a fun, buzzy atmosphere. I went with friends and after sampling a few cocktails in the bar (including a good Cosmopolitan) and ordering a bottle of Chardonnay for the meal, we selected the ‘Steak Experience’: you choose your cut of steak from a wide selection and get a side (fries, mash or salad) with onion loaf, tomatoes, a sauce and a big lettuce as a starter soaked in a sauce such as garlic and Parmesan.
We sampled the rump, fillet and Australian rib eye cuts between us, which were all good. I also really liked the onion loaf, which was spongy and delicious. Desserts included a sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate brownie, which were fine if not amazing.
Miller and Carter is a good choice for the start of a night out on the toon or just for a pleasant meal when your iron levels are a little low.
