When I visited: A few times from 2014
Location: London, Park Lane
Team: Mark Edwards (Head Chef)
Rating in the Michelin Guide: Recommended
What to wear: Men – jeans or nice trousers and a shirt; women – jeans and a smart top or a smart dress
Ambience: Smart / casual, range of diners
Course of the meal: Black cod
If I could change one thing: More special food and charm
Review:
Nobu has been famous for quite some time but also lost its Michelin star some time ago. While I have enjoyed going there a few times, I am not surprised it is now only ‘recommended’ in the Guide. While the food is generally pretty good, especially the black cod and the bento box option, nothing is massively special. If people go for the celebrities, they may be disappointed as the It crowd appear to have moved on to Balthazar, Hakkasan, Berners Tavern and in some cases, Sushisamba and Sexy Fish. However, I would still go to Nobu if you fancy spontaneous high-quality sushi.
