Galvin La Chapelle … galvanise your work lunch

When I visited: 2013

Location: London, near Liverpool Street

Team: Chris and Jeff Galvin (chef-owners), Jeff Galvin (Chef Patron)

Rating in the Michelin Guide: 1 star

Dining Owl Hoot rating: 3/5

What to wear: Men – shirt and jacket and nice trousers and shoes; women – a smart dress and/or smart trousers and a top, or workwear

Ambience: Smart, businessy, high roof

Course of the meal: Lasagne of Dorset crab, Beurre Nantais

If I could change one thing: More consistent service

Review:

I’ve visited this restaurant once on a date and once with work colleagues. It’s a good choice for a work lunch (although I must say that they got something wrong when we went and then gave us all foie gras amuse bouches in compensation – quite a controversial choice to serve without asking!). It has a busting atmosphere, with good-quality courses and a good range of choices. I don’t think any of the courses were massively standout or memorable but it’s a solid choice.
