Manatus … the story of the everlasting salad

NOW CLOSED 😦

When I visited: May 2013

Location: NYC, near Bleecker

Rating in the Michelin Guide: Not rated

Dining Owl Hoot rating: 4/5

What to wear: Could go casual

Ambience: Fun, big, light

Course of the meal: Chicken salad

If I could change one thing: Open again 😦

Review:

On mine and my partner Owl’s first attempted visit to the great Minetta Tavern (the day it was closed – chuh) we went to the nearby Manatus instead, and didn’t regret it – it really deserves to be a first rather than second choice. I remember their full menu of almost anything and in particular, my everlasting chicken salad, which was so big that even after about half an hour of eating it, if I rearranged it a certain way it didn’t even look like I’d started to dig in. I love American food sometimes.
